I had the privilege of training a group of senior leaders and CEOs at Universiti Malaya’s UM LEAD program. The session, titled “Leveraging Computational Thinking to Address A.I. Challenges in the Workplace”, sparked powerful conversations – and one takeaway stood out:

“CT isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s essential for every level of our organization.”

Here are some activities to help teams sharpen their CT skills:
* Break down a common workflow into smaller, manageable steps.
* Reflect on recurring trends in data or customer behavior.
* Explore “what-if” scenarios to improve risk awareness.
* Reframe a challenge from multiple perspectives – technical, team, strategic.
* Review a flawed or outdated process – and redesign it together.

These exercises are light, accessible, and highly revealing. More importantly, they open up powerful conversations about how we approach work in a fast-moving, AI-driven environment.

What’s coming next in this series?
1. How to embed CT into team routines and training programs.
2. Behind the scenes: How organizations are using CT to rethink the way they work.
3. CT for leaders: A strategic lens for sharper, faster decisions.
